The Palmer Letters and the Turner Journal

We donated two important collection to the Genealogy Department of Allen County Public Library, Fort Wayne, Indiana. This is one of the largest genealogical collections in the country. We used these documents in our research regarding the Palmer family and the Anglo-Irish and Scots-Irish ancestry of Major James Palmer:

  1. The Palmer Letters, a collection of letters written between 1841 and 1874 regarding the Palmer, Taaffe, and O'Toole families of Ireland and Michigan.
  2. The Turner Journal of family events were recorded by Eleanor "Ellen" (Thompson) Turner (fl. 1805-1884), concerning the Turner, Thompson, Hoskyns, De Renzi, Palmer, and other families of Ireland and Wales..

Due to the destruction of so many records during the Irish Civil War, these two sets of documents provide genealogical information that would otherwise be lost. We hope that you will find them of value. Please contact us should you have any questions regarding these documents.
